As part of the ENSURE-6G EU project, I began my secondment at University College Dublin (UCD) as a PhD researcher from Özyeğin University. The secondment is about the legal aspects of 6G. Although the secondment is planned for a short period of fifteen days, the very first three days already proved to be highly productive, inspiring, and motivating.
During the first two days, we held a series of meetings focused on the current status of the project’s work packages. These discussions provided a clear overview of where each work package stands, the challenges encountered so far, and how the next phases will progress. Exchanging perspectives with researchers from different backgrounds helped clarify both technical and conceptual priorities, and contributed to aligning expectations for the upcoming period of collaboration.

On the third day, I had the opportunity to participate in the SecureNet Conference, which brought together experts working on security, privacy, and resilience in next-generation communication networks. Attending SecureNet was particularly valuable, as it allowed me to observe how ongoing academic research and project-based work are reflected in broader scientific discussions and real-world applications. The sessions offered fresh insights and reinforced the relevance of interdisciplinary cooperation in addressing complex technological and regulatory challenges.

Beyond the formal meetings and conference sessions, one of the most rewarding aspects of these first days was meeting new people and building meaningful professional connections. Engaging with researchers, engineers, and academics from different countries and disciplines was genuinely energising. Expanding this network and feeling welcomed into such an open and collaborative research environment made me particularly happy and motivated for the remainder of the secondment.
As a legal scholar, working in a multidisciplinary setting that brings together law, engineering, and security studies has been especially enjoyable for me. Contributing a legal perspective to technically driven discussions — and, at the same time, learning from other disciplines — has been both intellectually stimulating and personally fulfilling. These first three days clearly demonstrated how valuable cross-disciplinary collaboration is, not only for the success of EU-funded projects like ENSURE-6G, but also for individual academic growth.
I look forward to building on this strong start over the coming days and continuing to contribute to the project in a collaborative and interdisciplinary spirit.
