From Research Exchange to New Horizons: My Secondment at UPORT

31 December 2025 – 15 February 2026

As part of my ongoing academic collaboration and research exchange program, I had the pleasure of undertaking a research secondment at the University of Portsmouth (UPORT) from late December 2025 through mid-February 2026. Hosted by Dr. Katerina Kanta, Senior Lecturer in Computing and active researcher in cybersecurity and 6G systems, this visit provided an exceptional opportunity to enrich ongoing work and foster new research synergies.

During my stay, I engaged closely with colleagues across the School of Computing and the Portsmouth AI & Data Science Centre, discussing advanced topics at the intersection of 6G security, AI-driven trust mechanisms, and secure network resilience. These conversations helped deepen existing collaborations and opened avenues for future joint initiatives, particularly in areas that bridge communications engineering with cybersecurity and trustworthy AI.

Beyond research meetings and seminars, the visit included active participation in departmental activities, workshop discussions, and shared lab sessions. Together with Dr. Kanta and her team, we explored emerging threats in next-generation networks, worked on collaborative manuscripts, and refined ideas for future funded projects.

The warm academic environment at UPORT, combined with its vibrant research culture, made this secondment an intellectually enriching experience. I am grateful to Dr. Kanta for her generous support and thoughtful coordination throughout the visit — from structured research exchanges to informal brainstorming sessions.

In addition to productive academic engagements, I also took time to enjoy the scenic waterfront and historic charm of Portsmouth, a city known for its maritime heritage and welcoming community.

Reflecting on these six productive weeks, I am confident that the connections strengthened and insights gained during this secondment will lead to impactful collaborative outcomes. I look forward to continuing these research ties and exploring further opportunities for cross-institutional innovation.
