Advancing Trustworthy AI and Human-Centric Governance for 6G Security

During my ENSURE-6G secondment from Z-RED L.P. to Özyeğin University (OZU), I contributed to Task 3.3 by advancing research on trust, trustworthy AI, and human-centric governance in multi-agent AI systems for 6G security.

The work examined how trust influences collaboration, transparency, explainability, accountability, and human oversight among autonomous AI agents operating in complex 6G environments. A key outcome was the study of trust as both a technical and governance requirement, linking trustworthy AI principles with the EU AI Act, GDPR, and related concepts such as fairness, robustness, transparency, and data protection.

The secondment also supported the initial study of an agent-based modelling approach to consider cooperative, adversarial, and human-supervised AI behaviours. Attention was given to the role of human-in-the-loop mechanisms in strengthening explainability and responsible decision-making.

Overall, the secondment reinforced the scientific foundations for trustworthy and regulation-aware AI-enabled 6G security systems, contributing to the broader ENSURE-6G vision of secure, ethical, and human-centric future networks.

I would like to warmly thank the Özyeğin University team for their support, hospitality, and constructive collaboration throughout the secondment. Special thanks are warmly extended to Dr. Başak Ozan Özparlak for her kind support, guidance, and generous availability throughout the secondment. Her valuable mentoring, constructive feedback, and welcoming approach greatly contributed to the successful implementation of the secondment activities and to the further development of the research work.

The secondment also offered the opportunity to experience Istanbul, a city of exceptional cultural, historical, and social richness. Its unique position between Europe and Asia, its dynamic academic and innovation environment, and its vibrant everyday life provided an inspiring setting for scientific exchange, intercultural dialogue, and professional networking.

Looking ahead, the secondment has created a strong basis for continued collaboration between Z-RED L.P. and Özyeğin University within the ENSURE-6G project and beyond. Τhis cooperation will be further strengthened through future joint activities on ethical and legal issues in 6G environments, contributing to the responsible development of secure, human-centric, and legally compliant next-generation network technologies.
