Reflecting on my ENSURE-6G secondment experience at UCD

Building on my two-month secondment at University College Dublin (12 January–11 March 2026) under the ENSURE-6G project, my collaboration with Prof. Eleni Mangina formed a central component of the research visit, characterised by a strong interdisciplinary orientation and a shared commitment to advancing trustworthy AI within 6G systems. Her expertise in artificial intelligence provided a valuable technical complement to my focus on legal, ethical, and governance dimensions. This enabled a structured integration of perspectives, where system design considerations were systematically aligned with regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act and GDPR.

Through continuous exchange and joint analysis, we refined key aspects of privacy-preserving 6G architectures, with particular emphasis on transparency, accountability, and human oversight. The collaboration was excellent and highly constructive, and I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Prof. Mangina for her guidance, support, and commitment to interdisciplinary research, which significantly contributed to the advancement of our joint scientific work.

Beyond the academic setting, Dublin offered an environment that supported both reflection and creativity. During my secondment, I had the opportunity to explore the city and experience its vibrant atmosphere and rich history, appreciating Ireland’s welcoming spirit, cultural depth, and distinctive blend of tradition and modernity. This dynamic yet historically grounded context created a conducive backdrop for research and collaboration, while the openness of the academic community further reinforced the value of international mobility in fostering both scientific progress and meaningful professional relationships.

Overall, the experience strengthened the foundations for sustained collaboration and highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural engagement in addressing complex challenges in 6G, AI governance, and trustworthy digital systems.
