I am thrilled to share that I have officially begun my secondment at Montimage, Paris, France, as part of the ENSURE-6G Program funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). This marks an exciting milestone in my research career and offers a unique opportunity to bridge academic innovation with industrial application in the realm of beyond 5G and 6G network security. As a member of the Network Security Lab (NETSLAB) at University College Dublin, our research primarily focuses on developing cutting-edge solutions to secure next-generation mobile networks. My current secondment at Montimage aligns seamlessly with this mission, allowing me to contribute to industrial-grade security research while expanding my own expertise in AI-driven security mechanisms.
My work during this secondment focuses on designing AI-driven security solutions tailored for 6G networks. This involves addressing security challenges in AI/ML technologies, with an emphasis on defending against adversarial threats and enabling zero-touch security management. One of the most exciting aspects of this work is the collaboration with Montimage’s in-house platform, the Montimage AI Platform (MAIP), which offers intelligent network traffic analysis and real-time security monitoring. By incorporating Explainable AI (XAI), the aim is to enhance the transparency, robustness, and trustworthiness of these systems without compromising performance. These efforts are crucial to the broader objectives of the ENSURE-6G project, which seeks to build secure, intelligent, and autonomous next-generation mobile networks.

For context, Montimage provides an advanced monitoring solution that captures and analyzes network traffic and business activities. It plays a pivotal role in identifying how networks are utilized—down to the protocol, application, and user level—and in detecting potential security or performance incidents. This environment presents a rich opportunity to test and validate our research in a practical, real-world setting
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Edgardo Montes de Oca and Wissam Mallouli from Montimage for their warm hospitality and support during the early days of this secondment. My thanks also go to Bart Siniarski, Shen Wang, Madhusanka Liyanage, Charuka Moremada, and the entire UCD coordination team for their continued mentorship and guidance throughout this international collaboration.
This secondment is not just a personal achievement—it also symbolizes the strength of EU-industry-academia partnerships under the ENSURE-6G framework. By bringing together theoretical innovation and practical deployment, we aim to advance the security frontier of 6G technologies and contribute meaningful solutions to Europe’s digital future.
Stay tuned for more updates from Paris as the project evolves!
